NOT learning Spanish
I want to tell you how NOT to learn Spanish.
1) Don't expect to learn Spanish in high school Spanish class. Won't happen.
2) Don't try to learn it out of a book without interaction. Really hard to do.
3)Don't speak Spanish because you are too embarrassed you don't know the language. If you don't speak it, you'll NEVER learn it.
4) Don't depend on your Spanish speaking husband, boyfriend, girlfriend etc etc etc to teach you.
5) If you ever go to a Spanish speaking country, don't expect your Spanish speaking buddy (if you have one) to translate for you. You'll never learn by translation.
6) Take a chance and attempt you limited Spanish skills on the locals. They will appreciate it even if your Spanish sucks.
7) Ask questions and don't be embarrassed about not knowing. Always ask anyone who speaks Spanish how to say something, the best way to say something.
8) Take classes in English as a second language.
9) Speak to kids who speak Spanish. They love it!! They will teach you fun little rhymes and games in Spanish that you will never know otherwise.
10) Have fun with it. Learning another language is a never ending process!!! |
